All Saints Church Northcote
Beginning with an alert from a public housing tenant parishioner in 2013, All Saints church in Northcote has been a supporter of Friends of Public Housing Victoria and other advocacy groups, and has made submissions during the planning overlay process and to the Parliamentary Inquiry into the PHRP. We have hosted public forums and meetings and continue to welcome and participate in regular meetings of the Save Public Housing Collective. We object to the PHRP primarily because of its effects on our neighbours, and its long term policy outcomes – the loss of a public asset currently reserved for housing people who need it most, and the gross inadequacy of its response to the housing and homelessness crisis. Information about our concerns can be found on our website.

Darebin Friends of Public Housing
We are a group of local community members in the Darebin region of Melbourne concerned about housing and homelessness. Public housing is vital to a socially just and equitable housing system. We are concerned at the steady loss of public housing locally at the same time as housing inequality, and the number of people experiencing homelessness in our neighbourhoods grows. We formed in response to the Victorian Government’s plans to remove the residents at the Walker St estate in Northcote and handover the site to private developers under the Public Housing Renewal Program. Our meetings are open to all local residents. Join us at the All Saints Church hall, Northcote on the dates and times advised on our Facebook page.

Save Ascot Vale Estate
We are S.A.V.E.. (save Ascot Vale estate) and that is exactly what we are trying to do. Ascot Vale is situated on 73 acres of prime inner city land and is therefore considered the jewel in the crown for greedy development. Once this public asset is gone, it is gone for good. We call for a moratorium on the entire Public Housing Renewal Program.
